The key to making money in this business is not only picking winners on a consistent basis, but you have to bet the right amount too. Personally, I have found the best way to constantly and to your bank roll is to bet the same on each game, but this is extremely hard to do and takes a lot of discipline because one day that game comes that you know can’t lose and is a "lock"(even though there is no such thing) and if you win then it’s great and if you lose it decimates your bankroll and might cause a downward spiral into bad bets and worse money management. I use a 3 bet system, Small, Regular, and Large. The size of my large is nowhere near as big as you think. The Large bet which is the biggest play I have, is only 6% of my bankroll. Medium is 4% and Small is 2%. I find this system to be very effective because I have a percentage that I am comfortable with and I won’t have a coronary if I lose a max bet. It provides room for the cold spills and helps me bet a bit more when I am up. Vegas wasn’t built in a day and neither can a fat bankroll. I know everyone does their own thing and plays different ways but I just had to share the formula that I use and believe in. Either way, don’t blow your hard earned money on one huge play, most of us don’t gamble as a primary source of income, we gamble because it’s fun and we enjoy it, and anyone who has been around this game for a while has hit some bad spots, myself included, and if I have learned anything it’s not too chase the money by blowing more on a stupid bet, even if it looks like gold. Discipline and Control are the key!
